Purpose of Position


The Web Developer will be responsible for developing features for the main UT System website and collection of sites, handling production and client interaction, and managing project needs to meet deadlines in a timely manner.  The position will work independently on small-to-medium projects and collaboratively with the web team larger projects and website initiatives.  The Web Team is responsible for a site’s scope, visual design, technological needs, user experience, production timeline, development, testing, accessibility adherence, performance, and launch/post-launch support. 


Essential Functions



  • Maintain and develop features for the UT system website and collection of sites. Collaborate with members of External Relations: Work with designers in building new sections of the site, and provide assistance for web content creators.

  • Develop advanced website functions for our Drupal sites and update/improve existing functions and features.  Provide scope and roadmaps to solve website challenges for UT System offices or initiatives that require Web Team support.

  • Assist user requests and gauge needs on existing web sites and develop corresponding solutions. Train employees as content publishers and assist with training for satellite developers in other UT System offices.

  • Ensure quality assurance and participate in technical monitoring in all website presences in cooperation with other members of the Web Team and UT System Offices.

  • Research Content Management System standards and trends for implementation in the UT System collection of websites.
