Overview

Excited by front-end technologies? Passionate about great design? Enjoy creating digital solutions that push the boundaries of what is possible? Then you’ll fit right in at AIA Worldwide.

As a Senior UI Developer, you’ll be helping to create user interfaces on high-traffic websites for a broad range of high-profile companies. This will involve lots of collaboration, and not just with your own team either. You’ll work closely with designers to come up with great ideas and prototype early concepts. You’ll also collaborate with project managers, researchers, copywriters and others to develop genuinely innovative solutions. All while actively supporting our diverse suite of best-in-class technologies.

Who are we looking for? An experienced web developer who knows how to implement the latest web technologies. Someone who enjoys giving technical input during solution design and helping other developers adopt new ways of working. We’re looking for people who love creating effortless user experiences, who can talk about sites and apps that excite them and who are avid followers of leading web design/development magazines and blogs. We’ll expect you to have an eye-catching portfolio of work, experience with responsive designs and, most importantly, we’ll need you to have real enthusiasm for the role and an eagerness to take on difficult challenges.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with cross-functional teams (design, content, dev, UX, PM, and client) to develop sites that are beautiful, functional, and that showcase the latest in creative technology for our clients.
  • Participate in brainstorms with that same cross-functional team to ensure that UI development is a full part of the creative process.
  • Build sites that are responsive, performance-optimised, and accessible (and work with internal teams to educate stakeholders about the importance of these aspects of design and development).
  • Champion Web Standards within the London office and promote adherence to them in all projects.
  • Working with project management and the quality assurance team to ensure proper usability and accessibility review for products and define usability requirements.
Skills/Requirements
  • B.Sc. in human-computer interaction, computer science or a related degree and significant experience developing commercial-quality, responsive web sites/applications.
  • Complete understanding of Web Standards.
  • An unrivaled passion for user experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML/XHTML, CSS3, SASS, JavaScript and jQuery.
  • PhotoShop for translating creative designs into UI (design expertise not required).
  • Nice to have: experience with XML, Razor, PHP and MS SQL.
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills.
